The project “Stadt vernetzt Natur” encompasses a real-world laboratory for novel ways of implementing green infrastructure goals in the urban areas of Bern. In doing so, it supports the efforts of the Swiss cantons, who plan to set up a nationwide network of ecologically valuable areas by 2040. In addition to the planning of cantonal measures with municipalities and large landowners, the project aims to examine the potential of civil society action. To this end,‘biodiversity days’ with volunteers are planned in the city of Bern, with the support of external partners.
